Archery Kent - arrows in a target at the woodland archery range

What Is Archery at Into The Woods?

Our Kent archery sessions are set in a dedicated range within the woodland, giving you a truly outdoor archery experience rather than a sterile indoor range. You will use traditional recurve bows and learn the full progression: stance, nocking the arrow, drawing, aiming, releasing and follow-through.

We start with safety and fundamentals, then move into target practice with coaching throughout. As your technique improves, we introduce challenges: different distances, smaller targets and friendly competitions. Archery is as much about mental focus as physical skill, and you will feel the difference as you settle into the rhythm.

Why Try Archery in Kent?

Archery in a woodland setting is a completely different experience to an indoor range. The natural backdrop, fresh air and outdoor environment make it more immersive and enjoyable. Our Kent site at Cudham Shaws is easily accessible from London and the South East.

Archery is suitable for all ages and abilities. It is a low-impact activity that builds focus, patience and upper body strength. Whether you are a complete beginner or have shot before, our instructors will help you improve your technique and hit your targets.

It creates natural opportunities for leadership to emerge, for quieter team members to shine, and for everyone to pull together toward a tangible, rewarding result. The woodland setting adds challenge, beauty and a real sense of achievement.

This is where our multi-activity approach comes into its own. Think of each activity as a building block. On its own it is a focused challenge; combined with others, it becomes a full woodland adventure. A wonderful day getting back to nature, having fun and learning new skills. I brought my 9 year old and even though she was the only child the whole group was so welcoming to her and we both had a blast! We'll definitely go again.

What a day! I can't recommend this event enough. We had 6h of back to back activities and every single one was exemplary. James and his team are so down to earth, knowledgeable and fun. My abs hurt from laughing for 6h straight! I honestly cannot recommend this enough, incredible value and a day I will remember forever! Do yourself a favour and book!!!

Awesome atmosphere, great escape from day to day challenges. Instructors are well educated in many fields of life, literally knowledgeable about everything you could possibly think of asking. Most important it's great fun and you really feel like a member of great family, couldn't recommend that more to everyone who is looking to spark their life with new adventures. Best of all you can bring your kids with you as well, what a great opportunity for me and my son to spend a great quality time together! I look forward to next event!

Archery FAQs

None at all. Our archery sessions are designed for complete beginners. Our instructors will teach you everything from how to hold the bow to proper shooting form. Most participants have never tried archery before.
Yes. We maintain strict safety protocols and supervise all shooting. Children are taught range safety from the start. Archery is actually one of the safest target sports when properly supervised, and it is suitable for children aged 8 and above.
We provide everything you need: recurve bows suited to your size and strength, arrows, arm guards, finger tabs and targets. You just need to wear comfortable outdoor clothing and closed-toe shoes.
Most participants are hitting the target consistently within their first few ends (rounds of arrows). With our coaching, you will see noticeable improvement throughout the session. We introduce challenges as you improve to keep it engaging.
Not particularly. Archery is a low-impact activity that uses mainly your back, shoulders and arms. The draw weight of our beginner bows is light enough for most people. It is more about technique and focus than raw strength.
